In 1932, Eugen Stephens established Western Steel & Wire, building on his experience as a sales representative for the Wickwire Corp. Utilizing the contacts he had made earlier, he was able to establish a loyal customer base. The business environment was difficult, but he persisted. Almost all wire sales at that time were in the coil form.
After World War II, the nation returned to a peace-time mode and the economy improved. The company expanded its offerings by adding straighten and cut machines, positioning itself for growth and expansion.
